Astana, 30 January 2026 – MAIRE (MAIRE.MI) and Nazarbayev University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cooperation in education, scientific research, people development, and innovation across Kazakhstan.

The MoU was signed by Professor Waqar Ahmad, President of Nazarbayev University, and Niccolò Heilpern, Anatolic and Central Asia Vice President of MAIRE, and outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration. MAIRE group experts will deliver lectures to Nazarbayev University students both in person and online, while the company will offer internship and placement opportunities at its sites in Kazakhstan, enabling students to gain hands-on professional experience.

The MoU also provides academic excellence initiatives such as sponsorships, awards, and research grants for outstanding students and faculty members. Both institutions will work together to organize workshops, seminars, conferences, and joint training activities and the cooperation also extends to consultancy initiatives, applied research programs, and the development of innovative student-driven projects and ideas.

This new partnership strengthens MAIRE’s broader footprint in Kazakhstan at a time where the Group is developing strategic industrial initiatives across the country and Human Capital development. By deepening the connection between academy and industry, the MoU supports Kazakhstan’s ambition to cultivate a highly skilled, competitive local workforce while promoting sustainable, innovation-driven development.

Niccolò Heilpern, Regional Vice President of MAIRE, commented: “This MoU deepens our collaboration with Nazarbayev University and confirms once again MAIRE’s commitment to advancing knowledge, innovation, and opportunities in Kazakhstan. By actively engaging with the academic community, we help create meaningful In-Country Value and support the country’s future generation of engineers, researchers, and innovators.”

Prof. Waqar Ahmad, President of Nazarbayev University, added: Our University prepares highly qualified, motivated, and talented graduates whose skills are recognized internationally. We collaborate with leading companies in the region, including Maire, and value their commitment to partnership. Strengthening links between our graduates and industry, and creating opportunities for practical application of knowledge, remains a core mission of the University. We explored a wide range of collaboration opportunities and are confident this partnership will be mutually beneficial”.
