NEXTCHEM (MAIRE) and Siemens Energy strengthen collaboration to advance innovative solutions leveraging on NEXTCHEM’s proprietary technologies
PRESS RELEASE- NEXTCHEM further strengthens its strategic collaboration with Siemens Energy to drive joint innovation in low‑carbon solutions, circular materials and next‑generation technologies
Rome/Milan, 23 January 2026 – NEXTCHEM, MAIRE’s Sustainable Technology Solutions, and Siemens Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the sidelines of the Italy–Germany intergovernmental summit in Rome, which was attended by the highest institutional representatives of the two countries, including the President of the Council of Ministers, Hon. Giorgia Meloni, and Friedrich Merz, Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The MoU fosters collaboration between the two companies, united by the ambition to develop cutting‑edge solutions capable of reshaping industrial processes and promoting a more efficient and circular use of resources. The MoU establishes a framework to combine complementary expertise with the aim of identifying synergies and launching joint initiatives in the fields of energy and material circularity.
The cooperation covers a wide technological spectrum, ranging from low‑carbon fuels such as hydrogen, methanol, ammonia and their derivatives, to the development of sustainable and circular materials for industrial applications. The scope also includes advanced thermal cycles for new‑generation nuclear modular reactors, both Small Modular Reactors and Advanced Modular Reactors.
Another central focus of the collaboration is the integration of energy systems based on methanol‑powered fuel cells, a promising solution for marine propulsion as well as onboard auxiliary systems. The partnership will also extend to advanced digital platforms, including digital twins, artificial intelligence and remote‑operation technologies, together with initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of highly energy‑intensive sectors such as data centers and hard‑to‑abate industries.
