- EPC contract granted by Grupa LOTOS SA for a refinery upgrading project in Gdansk

Milan, 14 July 2015 – Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. announces that its subsidiary KT – Kinetics Technology S.p.A. has been awarded an EPC contract by Lotos Asfalt Sp. z o. o., a subsidiary of Grupa LOTOS SA related to a refinery unit upgrading in the Gdansk refinery, in the framework of the EFRA (Effective Refining) Project.
Grupa Lotos is one of the largest refining companies in Poland, engaged in the extraction and processing of crude oil, as well as in the wholesale and retail of refined petroleum products.
The overall contract value is estimated to be €304 million and the project completion is expected in 2018.
The contract includes the implementation of a Delayed Coking Unit, a Coker Naphtha Hydrotreating Unit, a Hydrogen Production Unit (licensed by KT) together with ancillary units in the premises of the Gdansk refinery.
The scope of the contract entails the implementation of the best available technology for produced coke downloading and dewatering. This technology is regarded as a breakthrough approach to the Delayed Coking environmental impact mitigation.
With this important achievement, Maire Tecnimont Group strengthens its positioning in the refining business, thanks to its capabilities in improving output efficiency. Ensuring the full technological cycle of crude oil processing is today one of the key drivers to meet the growing market for cleaner fuels and ensure higher output of high-margin products.
