Rome, 6 October 2026 – MAIRE today presented the FondazioneGreen Innovation ITS Academy, the new entity created to train technicians specialized in decarbonization and the circular economy. In the presence of the President of the Lazio Region, Rocca, and other local authorities, the Foundation's operational headquarters and the free two-year "Energy Transition Specialist" course, which will begin in November, were inaugurated in Rome's Tiburtina area.

Following the official presentation, an Open Day for families and interested students is scheduled for 4:30 pm, designed to explore the objectives, content and opportunities of the course, with a focus on the training modules, workshops, company visits and other experiences included in the programme. The afternoon's special guest will be Stefano Gandelli, from GEOPOP, with whom the students will also be able to interact.

The Fondazione Green Innovation ITS Academy stems from a broad, multidisciplinary partnership involving businesses, schools, universities and the vocational training sector: for businesses, MAIRE, Acea, Q8 Italia and Orange Branded; for secondary schools, the I.I.S. "Piazza della Resistenza, 1" in Monterotondo (RM) and the I.I.S. "Via di Saponara 150" in Rome (IPS Giulio Verne and ITE AFM Ferdinando Magellano); for research, the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome; for vocational training, Unindustria Perform S.r.l. and the CNOS-FAP Lazio Salesiani Association.

The Foundation aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Lazio's production system by training the technical profiles required by businesses, contributing to the region's energy and digital transition and spreading technical-scientific culture among the new generations.

The first course launched by the Foundation trains the Energy Transition Specialist: a technician who supports businesses in adopting sustainable, low-emission technologies, optimizing processes and managing innovative plants. Free of charge and lasting two years, the course is aimed primarily at young graduates and at those wishing to enter or re-enter the job market with practical skills useful for the energy transition; it concludes with a diploma recognized by the Ministry of Education and the European Union, in Technology Area 1 – Energy, Field 1.3 "Energy sustainability in the environment and the circular economy".

The course starts with 25 students (around 400 are expected at full capacity) and includes 1,000 hours of classroom lessons, based on innovative methodologies and a hands-on, experiential approach, in addition to an 800-hour company internship designed to foster direct contact with partner businesses and Lazio's production chain. Ample space is dedicated to soft skills and a creativity workshop inspired by the figurative and performing arts, in the spirit of the humanist engineer who combines scientific disciplines with humanistic culture.

The new facility, located at via Tiburtina 994 in Rome at the Istituto Salesiano Teresa Gerini Torlonia, in the heart of the Tiburtina area, strengthens the link between technical training, the local area and accessibility, fostering dialogue between schools, businesses and new professional opportunities in the energy transition.

Fabrizio Di Amato, Chairman of MAIRE and of the Fondazione Green Innovation ITS Academy, commented: "The energy transition is an irreversible path, and its success depends on our ability to train the people who will lead it. Thanks to the concrete support of the Lazio Region and all the institutions that worked to build a genuine alliance! This Academy aims to integrate with the new Technological High School launched by the government, to build a training pipeline to prepare the new professionals of the energy transition. In the Tiburtina area, where it all began, MAIRE also wants to make a social contribution for the most vulnerable young people, such as NEETs. This is the winning model of economic and social transformation for meeting the challenge of decarbonization."
