• The call for entries, promoted by MAIRE in collaboration with the Accademie di Belle Arti di Brera, Rome and Catania, is the natural evolution of the project "in-genium. Perspectives on the past and future of technology" and brings contemporary photography into the Group's industrial settings
• Alice Muratore (Accademia di Brera), Cristina Cappello (Accademia di Belle Arti of Catania) and Mattia Dell'Omo (Accademia di Belle Arti of Rome) have been selected to develop photographic projects across the Group's plants, construction sites and research centres
• The three projects revolve around the themes of Energy and Matter, Humans and Machines and Landscapes of Innovation

Milan, 5 August 2026 – MAIRE (MAIRE.MI) announces the three winners of the first edition of the "IN-GENIUM 2026" Photographic Residency Grants, the programme dedicated to students of the Academies of Fine Arts of Milan, Rome and Catania – the cities that host the Group's main offices in Italy.

The call for entries represents the natural evolution of the project "in-genium. Perspectives on the past and future of technology" – promoted by MAIRE and Fondazione MAIRE – ETS in collaboration with the Parco archeologico del Colosseo – extending its gaze from the emblematic sites of ancient technology to contemporary industrial contexts. While the original project retraced the history of téchne, the art of making and of knowing how to make, "IN-GENIUM 2026" now invites young talents to portray, through photography, the complexity, beauty and impact of human capital on the processes of energy and technological transformation.

The selected photographic projects, which will be carried out at the Group's offices, plants and research centres – identified as privileged settings for observation and visual research – are:

• Energy and Matter – Alice Muratore (Accademia di Brera), with a project that explores the processes of material transformation as a visible manifestation of complex energy dynamics, bringing industrial transformations into dialogue with photographic processes, including through sustainable development practices such as caffenol.
• Landscapes of Innovation – Cristina Cappello (Accademia di Belle Arti of Catania), with a project that interprets industrial sites as new landscapes of the energy transition, combining observation, material memory and reflection on the risk of digital oblivion.
• Humans and Machines – Mattia Dell'Omo (Accademia di Belle Arti of Rome), with the project "Gestures and Algorithms: Anatomy of Industrial Knowledge", which celebrates human capital in industrial contexts through a reflection on technical gesture, experiential knowledge and the relationship with artificial intelligence systems.

Over the course of the residency, each artist will produce a photographic portfolio dedicated to their chosen theme and take part in the exhibition and dissemination initiatives organised by MAIRE, contributing to a visual narrative designed to spread a culture of responsible innovation.

With "IN-GENIUM 2026", MAIRE reaffirms its commitment to fostering dialogue between art, engineering and innovation, offering young talents the opportunity to engage with the places and skills that embody the Group's identity.

in-genium is also a podcast – "Futuro Anteriore", produced by Chora Media and narrated by Jacopo Veneziani – available on the main streaming platforms, as well as an exhibition, hosted at the Museum of Sicilian Knowledge and Wonders (Museo dei Saperi e delle Mirabilia Siciliane) in Catania and open to visitors until 31 August.
